This Is Our Story
Founded in 2019, Desert Scenic Tours is a local tour company based in Swakopmund. The business expanded rapidly, however, due to lockdowns and Covid regulations, the majority of businesses in Namibia, notably those in the tourism sector, were seriously struggling. Nonetheless Desert Scenic Tours managed to stay in business and survived this extremely difficult time. In March 2022 the decision to effectively get back on track in was made.
Founder and owner Nick Philander, has over twenty years of experience in the tourism and hospitality sector. He gained his knowledge about the Namib Desert working for large Namibian tourism companies, as well as a quad biking guide, restaurant manager, consultant - and tour manager.
In total Desert Scenic Tours consist of four employees: two local tour guides, two secretaries and one part-time tour guides when business is brisk.
The Living Desert Tour, The Moonlandscape Tour and Skeleton Coast Tour are the three main attractions.
